siptel works with leading accountants to bring their technology up-to-date

A leading UK firm of accountants and business advisers, specialising in advising the management of developing private and public businesses, needed to upgrade their technology, with a two part service: implementation and project management of new technology to some of their many sites. With more than 1,500 partners and staff operating from 23 offices, they pride themselves on creating and sustaining supportive relationships where objective and timely advice enables clients to thrive and develop.

The accountancy firm approached siptel to upgrade their technology, however prior to siptel’s involvement, all of their UK sites were working autonomously and were therefore all supported individually, at great expense and large resource overheads. They chose to upgrade their legacy systems to VoIP Avaya technology, using S8700 central processing and G700 remote gateways.

The accountancy firm planned to implement the technology refresh across all the individual offices in the business, UK wide, over a period of time. siptel have already installed the technology at four sites and plan to upgrade at least three more sites in the near future. siptel also had to fulfil some IT consultancy needs since the accountancy firm, on occasion, did not have the full infrastructure in place to deploy the new technology. siptel were always on hand to advise on and define some of the technical requirements since there had been little or no integration of systems prior to the upgrade.

The company’s communications are now running at peak performance and there is also built-in resilience at each site in the rare event that the network was to fail. Upon failure of the wide area network or central site, LSPs (Local Survivable Processors) at the remote site detect a problem and activate, providing functionality to users along with local ISDN connectivity.

The business has achieved significant cost reduction with their new technology and support costs across all sites have been dramatically reduced. A single system is obviously far easier and cheaper to maintain than 20+ individual sites, all using different service providers. siptel have also helped them create one unified system, with a single dial plan across all sites.

siptel also maintain the MM (Modular Messaging), which provides Unified Messaging across all sites, integrated with Lotus notes: email, fax and voicemail to the desktop. This is delivered to the desktop via “Thin Client” Citrix.

The IT Director of the accountancy firm, has worked with siptel for some years and his loyalty to siptel is testament to their professional and efficient work culture.
