siptel keeps its finger on the pulse of communications An independent cardiovascular clinic provides specialist healthcare, whilst also hosting a group practice or ‘Chambers’ that brings together consultants and their specialists teams within a particular area of medicine and surgery. siptel was approached to consult on the clinic’s technology requirements and also to implement and support the voice and data infrastructure. The philosophy behind the clinic is to provide patients with a high standard of team-based medical, nursing and technical care with efficient administrative support. Early diagnosis or detection of heart or cardiovascular disease, together with treatment and health advice, provides patients with an excellent clinical service under one roof. Being so specialised in their field, this innovative company needed the technology to match their sophisticated medical standards. They required a communications solution that was 100% reliable as well as being fully resilient. siptel proposed a Voice over IP Avaya solution for the main office and administration departments, as well as a Cisco LAN infrastructure with routing equipment. Another component to consider was internet connectivity: siptel studied the clinic’s bandwidth utilisation and agreed on a specially tailored service which would link up the Internet with the NHS network. siptel also made sure that the clinic had full receptionist facilities with feature-rich voicemail, VPN security on the router and remote access, so that consultants can be contacted wherever they are. siptel was brought in on the project at an early stage in the planning process and did all the project management, delivery of the technology, implementation and training. siptel’s engineers now also support the system on an ongoing basis. The Facilities Manager for the cardiovascular clinic stated, “Our new technology is perfect for our needs and is running very smoothly. We have invested heavily in sophisticated medical equipment and the technology also needed to be first class.
