Siptel makes it to the finals of Comms Channel Awards 2006
Siptel has recently been shortlisted for the Reseller of the Year at the Comms Channel Awards. From the projects siptel has undertaken, they had been narrowed down from hundreds of entrants in the data and telecommunications industry. In addition, siptel was asked to submit a company profile detailing their activities in the market place, a recent case study or customer testimonial, staff development plans and letter of support from one of their principal suppliers.
Siptel had no problem choosing from one of their impressive client testimonials, finally deciding to profile a well-known Fund Management company. The Customer has a team of fund managers who control diversified portfolios of Investments in UK equities, international equities, government bonds and corporate bonds. Their fully integrated back-office operations utilise advanced technology to provide sophisticated settlement, accounting and risk management support.
Based in London, with a staggering annual turnover in excess of £12 billion, they have one main office and a Disaster Recovery (DR) centre, housing no staff, only to be used in the event of any major unplanned outages. The motivation to change their technology was their office relocation, however at the same time, they decided that a technology refresh was needed, to reinforce their key business and technology requirement, resilience. The brief was that they should have full service availability at all times, meaning 99.999% resilience from their main office to the DR centre and back again, 24/7.
siptel won the bid and provided an Avaya ‘S’ series server and Extreme LAN switch solution. The different components of the solution including ISDN30s at the main office and DR centre, dual parenting, dual LES 100 between sites, making network failure a virtual impossibility, dedicated 2MB internet connection and dedicated private wires with direct links to trading bureaus. This complex solution was specifically tailored for the business and it is fully resilient – a critical feature for the trading business as they deal with hundreds of millions of pounds every day. It is essential for the customer that their voice and data technology never fails and is backed up at all times. siptel provided a solution that not only met, but exceeded their requirements. Return on technology investment should be achieved within twelve months. A price cannot be put on the resilience of data systems in the fund management sector and their employees can rest assured that their technology will never let them down.
