Small and Medium Businesses’ Needs for Mobility on IP Networks Recognised with New System & Software from Avaya

New Media Gateway and Software extend IP telephony and communication options for customers.

Guildford, UK -- The needs of increasingly mobile users at small and medium businesses are being addressed with a new INDeX IP® Media Gateway and software from Avaya Inc. (NYSE: AV), a leading global provider of communications networks and services for businesses.

The gateway and software were developed after Avaya conducted research and solicited feedback from many of its customers and business partners worldwide.

As a result of customers’ and resellers’ needs to protect their existing investments, new mobility and messaging enhancements were incorporated into software for the Avaya INDeX IP converged communication system, which has over 1.5 million users throughout Europe and the Asia Pacific region.  The features include:

• Messaging - Multiple voicemail greetings now enable businesses to improve their response to diverted calls with messages tailored to suit the callers’ needs.
   
• Mobility – A new “group call forward” feature enables businesses to forward group calls to mobile or home numbers.   As a result, employees can continue to receive calls from their work group whilst on the move or working at home. This will allow employees’ to be more productive and provide better customer service because they can be contacted more easily.

The new Media Gateway is a system that links the INDeX IP and IP Office systems. The Media Gateway is designed for INDeX customers with changing business needs that are addressed by new applications on the IP Office platform, such as Avaya’s new Conferencing Centere, Phone Manager Pro, and integration with Microsoft® CRM software.

The new INDeX IP Media Gateway enables INDeX customers to benefit from current and future developments on IP Office.
